Joshua Tree National Park is three hours away from Las Vegas, NV. After exiting the 15, you embark on a long bumpy desert road; Joshua Trees decorate the road there and accompany you on your drive. The first gas station and only gas station you pass is drenched with classic 50’s charm and looks even better at night. Roy’s in Amboy. Stop and get gas there. After Roy’s, you’ll still have a lot of driving left to do. As you get closer to Joshua Tree, you’ll see abandoned houses scattered along that makes you wonder where the people went and why they didn’t stay.
The closer you get to the park, you realize there is life on this planet we call Twentynine Palms. It is a lovely town, with so much charm. As you drive, it keeps growing and surprising you. Hotels, and food places, small, locally-owned places as well as major chains. Starbucks, Del Taco, Pizza Hut, Panda Express. While planning your trip, there is no need to fret; Joshua Tree is surrounded by establishments big and small.
Joshua Tree has a lot to see and a lot of options.

A fun simple hike with breathtaking views is the Hidden Valley hike. Hidden Valley is exactly what it sounds like, surrounded and hidden by rocks, is a beautiful valley settlers use to use to hide their stolen cattle in.
Skull Rock, it actually seriously 100% looks like a skull. There are no camera tricks or good angles. It is enormous and really is a skull rock.
A lot of online articles say you have to hike to skull rock; you don’t.
On one side of the road is a skull rock hike; across the street from that is the skull rock itself. You can walk right up to it.
Skull rock is not only a natural wonder but is also a pretty iconic selfie spot.
